"The film makes it painfully evident, and the choice of the Sepik region drives the point home with precision, that this primitive 'Other' no longer exists. What remains of the primitive world are ex-primitives, recently acculturated peoples lost in the industrial world, and another kind of ex-primitive, still going under the label 'primitive,' a kind of performative 'primitive."

So here's how I feel about this.

These people, as a culture, lie to tourists to engage interest. They need to generate money so they pretend to be something they aren't just to fascinate people. Is it worth it to lie about your true culture just to make money? Maybe. I would do it if I was broke. I think what bothers me is that people just assume that most other societies are not as 'industrially advanced' as we are. It's crap. Just because they aren't on the same level as we are doesn't make them primitive. They make themselves 'ex-primitive' just to survive.

Whatever, Anthro. I've had enough of you today.

[Izzy]
Can you please come to my room?
I don't want. I can't handle this.
[/Izzy]

Suffering is a long period of grief and the most painful and protracted stage for the griever. But during which the person gradually comes to terms with the reality of the loss. The suffering process typically involves a wide range of feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Suffering can include feelings of anger, guilt, sadness, and anxiety.

Yeah, they've got that part right.

[Ellie, Izzy, Veronica, Valerie, Boot Brothers]
This is my one time to ask a favor as I don't do it often. Ellie, I will stop eating your cookies if you make sure that the four of you stay at the house and don't go anywhere. Veronica, I know you were helping this girl do the protest and that worries me, they took her for a reason. Don't give them a reason to take you. I swear to god if I see any of you out of that house while I am out looking that I will lock you in your rooms and take your wands. You will have food, but I am being serious. Fucking serious.
[End ward]

They don't teach us how to react to this situation in our courses.
It's about time we write the fucking syllabus ourselves.

[Izzy]
Listen, Iz. I know it's random but since my brother wants to name the baby Batman, I figure you're the only other person besides Veronica who I can ask to kinda.. Help me out with this baby shower thing. I promise not to pick at you about it too much. Okay?
[/Izzy]

You are the majority—in number and intelligence; therefore you are the force—which is justice. Some are scholars, others are owners; a glorious day will come when the scholars will be owners and the owners scholars. Then your power will be complete, and no man will protest against it.
- Charles Baudelaire

Just some food for thought.

Well, Charlotte. I'm supposed to be keeping you safe.

Did your crystal ball see this one coming?

[Boot Brothers:]

Of two things I am certain:
One: Felicity is going to be showing me how to be a sorority girl and the night is set up for Saturday at 7. Such strange timing, I don't get it. Is it a woman thing?
Two: She said she was dressing cute. Does that mean that I have to wear a tux or something?
[/Boot Brothers:]

I've been giving it a considerable amount of thought lately and have finally accepted my fate as a Clinical Psychologist. After a few months of hard thinking and discussing my major with the professors, it's been decided that given my curiosity of the human mind and my proven record of research before action, Clinical is the way for me. They told me that there are facilities that hire people to oversee clients and their treatment and so far, this has been an interesting thought.

If anyone would like to join I'll be in the library tomorrow, slinking into a chair and going over notes. Midterms are coming soon.
